What a way to end the school term! Yesterday our school community had the privilege of joining in the prayerful presentation of The Passion of Christ. Our Year 9 and 8 students reverently and respectfully presented a re enactment of the last days of Jesus. This continues a 30 plus years tradition of our students presenting this prayer. Our students in the congregation were equally respectful in viewing this prayer and we hope that others will get to experience this presentation on Good Friday at 10am in the Sacred Heart Church. A huge thank you to Ms Wade and Mrs Maxwell for their inspiring and tireless leadership in bringing the students together. It is well worth the effort of coming to the Church next Friday 18 April to see this presentation.
Our students are now enjoying a well-deserved holiday. We hope that it is restful and rejuvenating as it has been a very big term filled with so many activities, events and learning. Please take care if travelling and be kind to each other. Try and make time to remember the Easter story and the significance it has for our Faith journey. Mass times are available on the Parish website. http://cg.org.au/cootamundra/home.aspx
We are very happy to announce that Ms Georgina Heggaton will continue in her role as class room teacher for 1B while Mrs Hunt continues her leave. We also welcome Mrs Gabrielle Grundy to Sacred Heart when she joins Miss Baron in 1M for Thursdays and Fridays for Term 2 while Ms McDonnell continues her leave. We are blessed to have such capable teachers fill leave positions so that our students continue to receive quality teaching.
To celebrate the end of the successful term we held our annual K-10 Tabloid afternoon yesterday. It was a joyous experience to watch the older students join with our students of all ages to have a fun afternoon of games and laughter. Thank you to Mercy house for their coordination of the day.
Tomorrow morning there will be a working bee in the secondary playground to remove the internal Ag plot including the chicken run. A small band of parents will be moving the sheds and fences to open up the playground back to the convent. As our numbers grow playground space is a premium and our busy students are keen for more space to run and play. Thank you to Mrs Byrne for her initiative and the generous donation of time, labour and heavy machinery that is necessary to develop the playground area. It will obviously take some time to re-grass and rehabilitate the area but it will be wonderful to have access to more space.
Next term we return on Tuesday 29 April. Traditionally we return in winter uniform but there will obviously be a two week period of transition from summer to winter depending on weather conditions and availability of uniform pieces. Of note is the fact that the Cootamundra community ANZAC Day March will be held on the last Friday of the holidays. Reminders will be sent out through the holidays on COMPASS. We would like all students to be in full uniform including the school bucket hat.
Hope everyone has a fabulous break and a happy and holy Easter. We look forward to another wonderful term and hopefully we will soon be moving into our beautiful refurbished classrooms. Take care.
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
Principal

Project Compassion Week 6
This year, Project Compassion highlights inspiring stories that showcase the power of partnership.
Toefuata'iga from Samoa: In a region affected by water scarcity, Toefuata'iga's primary school faced significant challenges. Through the
- support of Caritas Australia, the school now has a sustainable water supply, ensuring that students can learn and thrive without the burden of water shortages.
- Lam from Vietnam: Born with a disability, Lam encountered societal stigma and limited opportunities. With assistance from Caritas Australia, he accessed education and vocational training, empowering him to overcome barriers and inspire his community.
- Irene from the Democratic Republic of the Congo: Facing instability and poverty, Irene struggled to provide for her family. Through Caritas Australia's partnership, she gained skills in sewing and farming, enabling her to earn a steady income and mentor other women, fostering a ripple effect of empowerment in her community.
These powerful stories remind us that through partnership, we can be vessels of Christ's love, bringing hope and tangible change to vulnerable people and communities in need.
As a faith community, we are called to stand together in partnership, love and generosity. Through your participation in Project Compassion – whether through prayer, fasting, almsgiving and/or fundraising – you become a partner in change, walking alongside our brothers and sisters around the world.
Together, we can transform lives and bring the Gospel’s message of love and justice to life as we Unite Against Poverty this Lent.
