Week Four is done and dusted. We had blasts of cold and waves of heat and flies. Our weeks are full of so many different things that no day is ever the same. As we stare down the halfway mark of Term 4 we realise that the year is slipping by so quickly and there is still so much to get done. Our students are in the throes of preparing for final assessments. Our Year 10 students will sit their final examinations next week and then move onto experiences to help them transition to a bigger world. Our annual Beyond Sacred Heart program will take up all of Week 6 and then Work Experience is Week 7 and 8. We wish our Year 10s every success in their exams, and we hope the work they have done is reflected in their efforts. Our Years 7, 8 and 9 students will have examinations in Week 6 and our Primary students are also finalising their different assessments and tasks. Please be mindful about booking appointments in these final weeks.
As we prepare for 2026, we are busy setting up classes and staff allocations. There is still a lot of work to do before we can finalise all the arrangements for next year but we would appreciate that if there are any changes to school for 2026 that you contact the school. Also, if you need different issues to be considered in class placement, please make an appointment to meet with me at your earliest convenience. A great deal of thought and discussion does go into the allocation of class groupings, and we always strive to make sure that the child’s best interests are catered for in assigning them to a teacher and a class. We will make every effort to consider requests but sometimes it is not always possible.
Next Friday 14 November we will host the Annual CECG Touch Carnival. This is always a fabulous day and we acknowledge all the work that has gone into the preparation from Mrs Annette Black, Mrs Patrece Maxwell, Ms Megan Withers and all the Secondary Staff. We are desperate to find additional referees to assist in the running of the day. If you are available to volunteer a few hours or any time at all we would love to hear from you. Also Ms Kylie Murray and the Year 10 parents are organising the canteen and they could use some assistance in the preparation and the operation of the canteen. Please make contact with the school if you can assist as a referee or help in the canteen.
Next Tuesday is Remembrance Day. The internationally recognised date that marks the end of the First World War. Every day we should be thankful for the sacrifices of so many that we enjoy the peace and prosperity of a free country. We will commemorate the armistice with a school service and our Junior Leadership Team will represent the school at the town service at Albert Park at 11am.
Wednesday 12 November will be our final Uniform Free day for the year and it will be the opportunity to fundraise for Caritas with SOCKTOBER. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation and to also bring some loose change for some fun activities during Community Breakfast. Please join us for breakfast from 8.15am.
Last week the Year 8 students travelled to Tathra for the annual pilgrimage to the sea. It was a wonderful time and the convenor of the camp at Kianinney commended our students for their behaviour and attitude and that “they were the best group she has had this year”. Wonderful accolades for our kids. Thank you to our teachers, Mrs McPherson (PCA), Ms Wade and Mrs Maxwell for giving up their valuable time to take the children to the coast.
Last week was National Teachers Day and we celebrated our fabulous staff on Tuesday when the teachers returned from camp. We are indeed blessed to have a committed and dedicated staff and the certificates of commendation that the students completed for the teachers were very special and it is obvious that our teachers make a positive impact on our students each and every day.
As we move closer to the Social media ban roll out there is an increased focus on the apps that our children are using. Please read very very carefully the attached article on the negative elements of Roblox. It is a parents responsibility to be informed about what your students are viewing and interacting with. This is a very confronting article about an app that appears harmless but is anything but!

We wish everyone a restful and refreshing weekend.
God Bless
