Another fabulous week has come and gone! Our students represented our school with pride in so many different activities and competitions. Our fabulous Public Speakers conducted themselves with distinction in Gundagai last week. Ella Sannazzaro successfully took out the Year 5 division and Emmeline Last was Runner-up in the Year 4 level with Stella Blackman only just missing out on a top berth result. Ella and Emme will represent the Western Region in September in the finals in Cootamundra. Congratulations to all speakers! Our Small Schools Secondary rugby League has mixed fortune and our Junior team is now through to the next level but our senior boys unfortunately played very well but missed out on moving onto the next round. Thank you to Mr Wilde and Mr England for volunteering to help coach the boys and preparing them for the competition. Our illustrious Mock Trial team exceeded all expectations by reaching the first elimination round but were closely beaten by a very strong team from St Mary’s Star of the Sea from Wollongong. Our little team held their own against older and more experienced opponents but can be immensely proud of their efforts. Thank you to Mrs Fry for transporting the team and to Ms Wellett Potter who has generously coached the students for each of the rounds this year.
Hennessy Catholic College will be on site on Thursday to conduct the interviews and subject selection this Thursday 14 August. Please make an appointment at the Front Office to secure an appointment with Mrs Holding and Mrs McInerney.
A final reminder that this Tuesday 12 August we have our final Information Session for Kinder 2026. This session is all about the Transition to school program that will being on 11 September. It is important for parents to be aware of the procedures and routines that will support the new students. Please make contact with the front office if there are any questions.
The Book Fair has also been and gone and once again it was a wonderful week of all things books and reading. Thank you to our dedicated and enthusiastic librarian Mrs Emma Randall who spends a lot of time preparing for the Book Fair and opening extra hours to allow parents to purchase books for excited students. It is also a very valuable way to raise revenue to continue to buy new books for our library and our students.
Last Thursday hundreds of pies were delivered to Sacred Heart as part of the Year 9 Pie Drive Fundraiser for their Sydney Excursion. Mrs Kim Sannazzaro capably orchestrated the pie orders and hopefully all the pies made it to the correct homes to be enjoyed. Thank you to everyone who supported the students by purchasing pies.
This Friday marks 100 days of Kindergarten for our littlest students. There is an important milestone in our Kindergarten students’ lives and their will be some wonderful celebrations later in the day. It is very important that we acknowledge the Kinder teachers Mrs Chesworth, Mr Niddrie, Mrs Fry and the wonderful CSAs Mrs Kingwill, Mrs Vitnell and Ms Tobin who have made the children’s start to school so memorable, successful and enjoyable. There is never ever a dull moment in Kinder and we appreciate all that they do to make the learning so positive.
Last Friday all the Archdiocesan Principals, Religious Education Coordinators and Parish Priest gathered in Canberra to consider ways that our schools can continue to grow in their responsibility to support our students in their Faith journey. The responsibility to show the face of Jesus to our students and to shape them to be faith-filled and Christ-like in their actions, interactions, choices and lives is an important part of being a Catholic school. We are blessed to have Fr Lolesio as our spiritual leader in the school. His compassionate, joyful and positive manner is a strong role model for our staff, students and families. We would love more families to join with us at Saturday Vigil Mass to build community and celebrate Mass. It is important that we share in the life of the Parish, to support our parishioners and Father. In this Year of Hope we realise that “hope does not disappoint” (Rom 5:5,) which is the theme for the Jubilee year proclaimed by the late Pope Franics. The Jubilee Year offers opportunities for spiritual renewal, forgiveness and reconciliation, encouraging Catholics to deepen their faith and relationship with God. The Jubilee Year is proclaimed in a world marked by war, the ongoing conflicts ad climate crises, making the theme of hope particularly relevant.
Have a wonderful week and enjoy the gorgeous weather while it lasts. Remember we can always "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle." - Plato
God Bless.
