We have had so much to celebrate over the past two weeks and these is still much more to come in the coming weeks.
Thank you to all the parents, students and teachers that gave up their time to meet for the semester interviews for the past two Thursday afternoons. It was pleasing to see a lot of parents make the most of the opportunity to meet with teachers to discuss progress, achievements and ways to continue to move forward. These are important sessions to ask questions, seek advice, monitor effort and engagement and to recognise achievements. There will not be another opportunity until the end of the next semester. However, if you have a pressing matter please send an email and teachers will respond with options within 48 hours.
Our Infants students have been so busy since the start of the term. They performed a wonderful welcome to the NAIDOC liturgy reenacting the story of the Rainbow Serpent under the artistic direction of Mrs Maher and Mrs Sannazzaro. Then they led the most beautiful Families liturgy on Friday celebrating the Feast Day of the grandparents of Jesus – St Joachim and St Anne. As a whole school we celebrated how blessed we are to have families that love and support our students and community. The weather held off to allow our annual Families Picnic to proceed after the Liturgy. A large number of Infants families gathered in the Infants playground to share lunch together. There was a joyful atmosphere and lots of happy children.
This Wednesday our Infants students and teachers will embark on another venture and travel to Wagga to watch the performance of Josephine at the Wagga Wagga Civic Theatre. Thank you to the Infants staff who have organised this wonderful opportunity for our littlest students to view a live performance together. They are all very excited and we wish them safe travels and a fabulous day out.
Many of our students will travel to compete in different competitions this week to match themselves against other schools. Our Secondary Rugby League teams will travel to Wagga to compete in the Small Schools competition and continue our proud success in the comp. Our Year 10 Mock Trial team will travel to Goulburn to compete against St Mary’s Star of the Sea (Wollongong) in the First Elimination Round having qualified in the final 32 of the statewide competition. Emmeline Last, Ella Sannazzaro and Stella Blackman will also travel to Gundagai on Wednesday to compete in the Western Region Public Speaking Final. The successful speakers will then qualify to speak at the Archdiocesan final in Week 8 12 September. We wish all our representative students and teams the very best of luck.
It is with great pride that the whole school community congratulates Ms Erryn Marsay on the release of her first published novel, “What Remains”. This is an awesome and well-deserved achievement. Ms Marsay has proven herself to be an amazing writer and storyteller and we are so lucky to have such a talented person on our staff and helping our young people to realise that they can achieve their dreams with dedication, commitment and hard work.
This week our Year 10 students will listen to a presentation about subject selection and what to expect from Stage 6. Senior Leadership from Hennessy Catholic College will meet with the students on Wednesday. This is for all students regardless of their pathway after Sacred Heart.
We have our final Information Session for Kinder 2026. This session is all about the Transition to school program that will begin on 11 September. It is important for parents to be aware of the procedures and routines that will support the new students. Please make contact with the front office if there are any questions.
It is that time of year again when everyone is excited about Book Week and our annual Book Fair. The Scholastic books have been unveiled in the library and there are lots of wonderful books to choose from. The Book Fair is open to parents on several occasions this week. Monday and Tuesday afternoon until 4 and then Tuesday and Wednesday morning from 8.30. Stay tuned for more information about Book Week activities in Week 5.
Have a fabulous week and hopefully the weather will be kind to us. Remember we can always be kind; "Carry out a random act of kindness, with no expectation of reward, safe in the knowledge that one day someone might do the same for you."
God Bless.
