What an amazing start Sacred Heart has had to the new term. Once again our students have shown dedication and commitment to develop skills, confidence and resilience in a range of different ways. Yesterday our Primary Public Speakers competed against Temora in the regional final and they performed with distinction. Three speakers will progress to the Western Region Finals in Young next week but all speakers were impressive in their maturity, preparedness and skills. Congratulations to all speakers:
Year 3: Emmeline Last and Evie McPherson
Year 4: Ella Sannazzaro, Juliet Daley and Edie Roberts
Year 5: Stella Blackman, Ava Sannazzaro and Zoe Lake
Year 6: Thomas Shields and Reuben Smith
Emmeline, Ava and Thomas will represent Sacred Heart next week and we wish them every success.
We are on the cusp of ‘Play Week’ a huge week for our resident thespians. Man of Steel will take to the stage after an epic build up over many months of rehearsals, planning and preparation. On Monday our Primary students will get to see the production and our Secondary students have to wait until Wednesday. Then there are three night performances; Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There are still heaps of tickets available and we would love an enthusiastic generous audience who will support our cast and crew. The hall has been transformed and we hope it will be a wonderful performance showcasing the amazing talent of our students. Ticket available at the Front Office.
Today also celebrates Family with the Infants Liturgy and Family picnic. Our beautiful Infants children have also been dedicated in preparing for this celebration of how much their families mean to them. The family picnic is a fabulous way to share in the students’ school life and recognise that families are so very important in the whole education journey of our students. Thank you to the Infants staff for their dedication, patience and preparation.
Next week will mark 100 days of Kindergarten for our 2024 Early Stage 1 students. They will mark this achievement with a dress up and afternoon activities. Stay tuned for all the fabulous photos.
Book Fair is also upon us. The scholastic truck dropped off all the wonderful books for show and sale next week. Mrs Randall is excitedly setting the library up for another big promotion of all things reading and books. Specific details will be made available for students and families to visit and purchase a book or two to continue the love of reading and important skills for life-long learning. It also helps us to purchase more resources for our lovely library.
Many of our staff have been travelling to Canberra this week to continue learning the system-wide High Impact Teaching practices. This continues to invest in the teaching and learning experience for our classrooms. Our staff have demonstrated a commitment to developing and refining their skills and strategies to enable them to provide the best education for our students.
In week 5 and 6 (Thursday 22nd and Tuesday 27th August) parents and students will have the opportunity to book interviews with the teachers to discuss the progress and development of their student/s. Booking will be made available on COMPASS in coming days and we encourage as many parents as possible to take advantage of this opportunity to acknowledge the successes and growth and the recommended strategies moving forward for the remainder of the year. Remember, if you have concerns or questions about your child’s learning you are always welcome to make contact with the teacher at any time but this is a valuable chance to have dedicated time to discuss your child’s progress.
In amongst all the teaching and learning in the coming weeks will be lots and lots of sport. We wish our Small Schools Rugby League teams the very best next week, our Trent Barrett teams and our Athletes in the Diocesan Carnival. As we are immersed in the Olympic Games coverage it is encouraging to realise that all those amazing athletes started somewhere and usually showed promise and commitment when they were at school. Who knows which of our students may go onto to Olympic glory.
Our Year 10 students are busy finalising their Work Experience applications for Term 4. They are learning very quickly the importance of being thorough and diligent in preparing for their future. Thank you to Ms Withers and Mr Mahon for all their time and energy to help the Year 10s prepare for a life after Sacred Heart.
Catholic Education are already making plans for the staffing of Sacred Heart for 2025. If you know of anyone who is considering enrolling their child/ren for next year please encourage them to make contact asap. We are steadily growing in numbers, and we want to carefully plan for the new year. It has been an absolute delight to meet with new students and their parents who will be joining us next year. We have our second parent information evening for Kindergarten 2025 next Tuesday night so please let anyone know that if they are considering a Sacred Heart education that they call the Front Office for more information. Also, if for any reason your child will not be continuing at our school in 2025 please inform the school at your earliest convenience.
We hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and that there might be some respite from the bitter cold mornings. Stay well and warm!
Remember – Kindness is Cool!
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
Principal
