Faith Matters

  1. Year 8 & Year 9 Retreats:

Last Thursday and Friday Year 8 and 9 joined in the Regional Retreats at Tumut with St Anne’s Temora and McAuley Tumut. Year 8 had the theme of “Self-image” where they spent time recognising their own value and self-worth, that they are made in the image and likeness of God, that they understand that their actions have an impact on their Self-Image and that they will recognise that it is possible to have a personal relationship with Jesus and can encounter Jesus through prayer.

Year 9’s theme was “Catch the Wave” and the students examined the key Gospel messages, learnt that they are all made in the image and likeness of God, came to understand the relevance of the salvation message to their lives today and that they can encounter Jesus, especially His merciful and forgiving love, through Reconciliation.

The students participated with enthusiasm and energy and made strong connections with the students from Tumut and Temora.

Many thanks to McAuley Tumut for hosting, to Mr O’Brien, Ms Marsay and Mrs Butt for taking Year 9 and to Mrs Trinder and Mr Forsyth for supporting Year 8.

Next year Cootamundra will be hosting the Regional retreats.

  1. Year 10 Overnight Retreat in May:

A note has gone home today with Year 10 for their Retreat next term. It will be held on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th May in Talbingo. Students are asked to return their notes early next term with their payment of $75 which covers, accommodation, transport, food and venue hire.

  1. ANZAC Day Prayer Service celebration:

Tomorrow at 2.50pm the students will gather in the church for a short Prayer Service to commemorate ANZAC Day. ANZAC Day falls in the middle of the school holidays and we feel it important for the students to take some time to reflect on the meaning of ANZAC Day and reflect on the great sacrifices that have been made and continue to be made for our freedom and safety.

  1. Week 1 Term 2 – Infants Weekend Mass:

On Saturday 5th May at 5pm (first weekend back after the school holidays) there will be an Infants Mass. All families are encouraged to join in celebrating with our Parish this weekend Mass. A note will go home soon asking for student to volunteer in the ministries.

Yours in Faith
