From the Principal
Newsletter Week 8 Term 3
Last week an announcement was made to the staff and school community that I have been appointed to the position for Principal from 2020. This is an enormous privilege and honour to be part of the future direction for this wonderful school. Sacred Heart has been such an important part of my life for 25 years and I recognise the fantastic opportunity that I have been given. I hope to follow in the excellent tradition of Sacred Heart principals who have worked determinedly for the viable, sustainable and glorious future of our school. I have always proudly and loudly proclaimed that Sacred Heart is a small school with a big heart that offers an excellent educational opportunity to rival any big school. I strongly believe that it is the very best model for education and that what we can offer at Sacred Heart eclipses what you can find in other schools. I was taught that it is the best model to surround yourself with good people to bring about the best outcomes. At Sacred Heart we have the best staff, the best community, the best families and the very best students. We have all the vital ingredients for the very best school. A wise person told me that “the best is yet to come” and I hold fast to that vision that for Sacred Heart. Thank you for your support.
Fr Joshy’s Farewell
A lovely Mass and BBQ luncheon were celebrated on Sunday 8 September to officially farewell Fr Joshy and to wish him every blessing for his new appointment to the Goulburn/Crookwell parishes. Fr Joshy has been very industrious in his time with us and his contribution to our parish is impressive. We will farewell him as a school community on Friday 13 September at 2.45pm in the church. Our new Parish priest Fr Lolesio Gisa will begin in our parish with Traditions Day Mass on 27 September.
Work of the Week
Stage 2N had the very important job of preparing our chickens for the Harden Show. Under the careful eye of Mr Mahon and Ms Ryan the students washing and styled the chickens for the local competition. They were very enthusiastic and excited about their duties and took great delight in blow drying the chickens. Their industrious efforts resulted in some prizes at the Show including 1st - Bantam Hen and 1 Bantam Roster and Best of Breed Bantam pair . Congratulations to 2N and Mr Mahon (and the Agriculture class for their preparation).
KINDERGARTEN 2020 TRANSITION
This week we welcome our littlest people to our Kindergarten cohort for 2020. Under the careful eyes of Ms McDonnell and Mrs Maher they will be introduced to big school on Thursday 12 September from 9am – 12pm. We wish them every possible blessing as they begin their Sacred Heart journey. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful students and their families choosing to be a part of our community.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Yesterday Sacred Heart was fortunate to host the Western Region Finals for the archdiocese competition for 2019. Students from all over the Western Region – from West Wyalong to Tumut, Temora to Grenfell and beyond competed for the right to compete in Boorowa next week. Gillian Hunt, Lucy Shields, Angus Hunt and Sarah Harris performed with distinction. They did themselves, their families and the school proud. We wish the speakers that qualified every success for next week.
REMINDER: P & F TRIVIA
Don’t forget to book your table for the P & F Trivia Night fundraiser on 13 September. It will be held at the S & C Club at a cost of $10 for an adult and $5 for secondary aged students. It promises to be a wonderful community night and we hope lots of people support it as it is the main fundraiser for this term. Tickets are available from the Front office. Please organise a table of 10 friends to support our school.
Go gently and if you can be anything…be kind!
God Bless
Mrs Nicky Trinder
