Fr Joshy’s Farewell
Don’t forget to join with the Parish community this Sunday at 11am to farewell Fr Joshy. We will celebrate Mass together and then share a BBQ lunch after in the Primary playground. If you are planning to help us celebrate all that Fr Joshy has contributed to our community please contact the school so we can cater.
Work of the Week
I was invited into the Year 9 Geography class this morning to listen to some proposals formulated by the students in response to developing a sustainable environment and what our students can do about the destruction to the environment in which we live. They were learning about climate change and were concerned by the widespread destruction to many of our natural sites. From their discussions they wanted to consider what “real” things 15 year old students could do in Cootamundra. The passion with which the students spoke about initiatives around the school that they would like to trial was inspiring. The students spoke eloquently about their vision to make a difference in our immediate surroundings with an education program for students around litter and recycling options. They also want to consider phasing out unnecessary plastics and promoting nude foods. Plans are also proposed to compost and set up additional vegie gardens. Congratulations to Year 9 and Mr Mahon for this excellent endeavour.
KINDERGARTEN 2020 TRANSITION
Next week we will welcome our youngest students for 2020 into the school. On Thursday 12 September from 9am until 12noon Kindergarten students for 2020 will spend some time in our beautiful Infants spaces as they familiarise themselves with routines and expectations of life at ‘Big School’. The parents are invited to meet on the Tuesday before the Transition (10 September at 12noon) to learn about our initiatives to build and develop the necessary skills for literacy, numeracy and wellbeing. If you would like further information please do not hesitate to contact the front Office.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Tomorrow we will welcome St Anne’s Temora for the Western Region Public Speaking semi-finals. Students in Stage 2 and 3 will compete for the right to speak at the Western Region final here next Monday. We wish all our speakers the very best of luck and thank Ms Van Kerk Oerle for taking on the organisation of all things related to Public Speaking in 2019.
REMINDER: P & F TRIVIA
Don’t forget to book your table for the P & F Trivia Night fundraiser on 13 September. It will be held at the S & C Club at a cost of $10 for an adult and $5 for secondary aged students. It promises to be a wonderful community night and we hope lots of people support it as it is the main fundraiser for this term. Tickets are available from the Front office. Please organise a table of 10 friends to support out school.
ENROLMENTS
As we race towards the end of the year we are very aware of enrolment numbers as we prepare for 2020. If you know of anyone who is interested in enrolling please encourage them to call the Front Office to set up an appointment to see what we can offer them. We have an amazing school and our students are our greatest assets.
Go gently and if you can be anything…be kind!
God Bless
