Berg Shield - Years 7-9 Boys Cricket

On the 16th October, Sacred Heart competed in the Berg Shield at Clark Oval, Cootamundra against Mater Dei from Wagga in a 20/20 match. The team consisted of Hayden Barrington, Roy Dunk, Ryan England, Harvey Fitzgerald, Joshua Ismay, Jett Johnson, Xander Moon, Harry Simons, Darcy Thompson, Nate Vitnell and Harry Winsor. Sacred Heart won the toss and sent Mater Dei in to bat. Mater Dei’s total was 6 for 137. Our wicket takers were Harry Simons 2 for 24, Zander Moon 1 for 16, Liam 2 for 20 and Josh Ismay 1 for 11. They were supported by Harvey Fitzgerald, Harry Winsor, Jett Johnson and Roy Dunk. Sacred Heart had a healthy total to chase and unfortunately, we lost our opening batsman (Harry Simons in a run out on the first ball of our innings). We settled after that and after some big hitting from Josh Ismay (24), Harvey Fitzgerald (22), Nate Vitnell (17) and Liam Drum (21) we were 5 for 100 after 15 overs compared to Mater Dei’s score of 1 for 97. We had a slight batting collapse after that and the final scored after 20 overs were Mater Dei 6 for 137, Sacred Heart 9 for 114. Thank you to James Dunk for coaching the boys and Pat Kierin for umpiring. Congratulations to the boys for their sportsmanship and behaviour on the day.

Years 7-9 team:
