Principal's Message
We have very quickly arrived at the final week for Term 1. All good things must come to an end and Term One has been very, very good. We will have managed to fill every day of the term with lots of positive experiences and the final two weeks are no exception. Last week we had a plethora of sport ranging from Rugby to Touch Football trials to CCC Swimming to Rugby League trials to our annual Cross Country Carnival. A huge thank you to the Cootamundra Golf Course for allowing us, to once again, use the beautiful facilities so that our students could complete the course in safety. More about our sporting triumphs and efforts in the Sports Report. We held the first of our Parent Teacher Student Interviews on Thursday and will continue these this Tuesday 8 April. Please log onto COMPASS to make your bookings asap before they close later tonight. The 2025 Mock Trial team also competed for the first time and came away with a well-deserved win against The Riverina Anglican College in Wagga. This is no mean feat when you consider that the Wagga school has such a large population. Thank you to Ms Potter who has helped prepare the team for their first trial. Well done to Alexis Day, Henry Fry, Matilda Lewis, Declan Emery, Makayla Whicker and Maddie Hourn. Thank you also to Mr Hugh Smith who generously travelled to Cootamundra to be the magistrate for the trial. It was our pleasure to have him share his expertise and experience. Thank you to the local library who made the Stephen Wards available for us to use.
This week we will be conducting many assessments to finish the term and we still require students to be present every day to complete all the learning tasks. As we close the term on Thursday please ensure that all absences have been explained. We apologise that in some cases we have experienced issues with saving the roll marking, and erroneous messages have been sent about absences that were not in fact absences. If you could please respond that they were in fact present that helps us to amend our records. We do apologise for this extra step. We are trying to make sure that the rolls are marked and saved correctly.
Today our Infants students, with the aid of their parents, families and other helpers, made their fabulous Easter Hats for the annual Easter Hat parade on Wednesday. This is always a highlight of the year for Infants students and they love creating marvelous hats for display. If you are able to join us on Wednesday at 2.30pm in the Infants Playground.
On Wednesday we will be holding our next Uniform Free Day to raise funds to donate to our Community Soup Kitchen. This is an important way that our students learn to give back to our local community to help others less fortunate than themselves by contributing a gold coin. The dress theme is “Footy Colours” and there is sure to be a vast array of different football teams and codes represented.
On Thursday we will have the privilege of watching the 2025 Year 9 presentation of The Passion Play. This is a long-standing tradition of performing the Passion of Christ to prayerfully tell the Easter Story. Thank you to Ms Wade and Mrs Maxwell for their Leadership of this event. They continue a proud tradition that has been running for well over 30 plus years. Sr Kathy was the original inspiration for providing this prayerful experience. In keeping with the significance of the story the presentation traditionally contains stylized violence and loud noises. It is an emotionally representation of the last days of Jesus’ life. In preparation for the performance Religious Education classes are taken through the story of Holy Week. If you have any concerns please raise them with your class teacher. The school community presentation is on Thursday 10 April at 10am in the Sacred Heart Church. We will conclude the day with our community whole school tabloid afternoon. Thank you to Mercy house for their organization. All students are permitted to wear sports uniform to participate in the tabloids.
A reminder that this Friday is a pupil free day. Our staff will be on site completing professional development to improve outcomes for our students and plan and prepare for Term 2. Please keep the students at home. We thank all our students and their families for their efforts this term and we look forward to another fabulous term. Have a fabulous break and stay safe.
Remember if you have to choose between being extraordinary or being kind…..be extraordinarily kind!
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
