Schoolgirl’s Trophy - Rugby League
Well done to all the girls who played in the U14s and U16s Rugby League (Tackle) Schoolgirl’s Trophy at Nicholson Park on Tuesday 11th June.
Congratulations to the U16s team, who were undefeated, and now progress to the Riverina Finals on Wednesday 3rd July in Wagga. The U14s won 1 out of 4 games and improved in every game.
All of our girls represented the school colours with honour, displaying wonderful team spirit and support for each other.
Ally Evans’ strong running game gave the 14s plenty of field advantage, with Maycee Twyford and Sophie Boxsell very strong in defence. Emme Piffero led the team well from the middle with great support from Hannah Tregear and Bridee Gartside.
Our 16s girls won their first game due to the golden boot of Lucy Paterson, who also stood out for her strong running game and talk in the field. Experienced players Hallie Kelly and Josey Hoey were outstanding in both defence and attack, providing invaluable points on the board and denying the opposition scoring opportunities. Willow Hall and Ashlee Peacey were also great in support across the field.
Well done to Jessy Fisher, Matt Wilde and Aidan Smith for refereeing on the day. Thank you to Kylie Murray for coaching and managing the teams.

Game 1 versus Hennessy Catholic College Young was a 0-0 draw. It was a close fought match with some excellent goalkeeping by both sides.
Game 2 versus Trinity School Goulburn was a comeback match after going down a goal in the first half. Ben Piffero kept his cool after running onto a neat pass from Henry Fry to score the equaliser. 1-1 draw.
Game 3 saw our side trail after an early goal by Lumen Christi Pambula. The boys struggled to find their rhythm this match, however, Ben Piffero collected a neat cross from Jessy Fisher to again score the equaliser. 1-1 draw.
There were many commendable performances notably from Austin Beddow, Jake Winsor, Even Lonnen and Ben Piffero. Ryan Dempsey is a player to watch for the future. They were great ambassadors for the school. We like to say we were ‘undefeated’ on the day!
