From the Principal
Yamandhu….hello in Wiradjuri.
Welcome to Spring!
So much is happening as we race towards the end of term. Today our Year 10 students travelled to Canberra for the Shine Conference with so many other young people from around the archdiocese. This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to be a part of an inspiring celebration of our Faith with other students. Hopefully there will be a report in the coming week’s newsletter. We thank Mrs Maxwell and Mr Forsyth for accompanying the students and Catholic Education for financially supporting this event.
Our Year 9 students are very excited about their upcoming excursion to Sydney in Week 9. This is always a highlight of their time at Sacred Heart. Thank you to Mr Mahon for his organization and planning and to Ms Withers and Ms Buchanan for generously giving up their time to attend the excursion as well. Some of the places that they will visit include the Jewish Museum and Madame Toussads. They will attend the Musical Wicked, view the Bondi Cliff walk, enjoy an Indigenous Harbour Cruise and be immersed in the Sydney city experience.
Book Week is always a highlight in our school calendar. According to all reports it was a fabulous day with a joyful celebration of everything books. Our students and staff enjoyed dressing up and the combined schools Book Week March down the main street was glorious. Thank you to all our families who made such an enormous effort with costumes. It was greatly appreciated. Anything that promotes reading and cultivating a love of literature is a great thing!
Our Year 7 and Kindergarten 2024 Transition programs begin in the coming weeks. These are very successful programs that smooth the transition to school and to secondary life. We are very excited about all the new students who will be joining our wonderful community and it has been delightful to meet each new family and student to discuss their excitement and hopes for their new beginnings. Please contact the Front Office if you would like further information about either program.
A gentle reminder that school fees are due. This is an important consideration and budget item for all our families and we greatly appreciate the sacrifices that families make to fulfill their fee responsibilities. If at anytime families find the fees too much of a challenge, I invite them to make an appointment with me to discuss possibilities for remission or repayment plans. This also helps to avoid uncomfortable or awkward phone calls when fees become an issue.
REMINDER: Staffing considerations for 2024 are currently under discussion at Catholic Education in Canberra. To support our staffing requests we would like to provide an accurate number of enrolments for the next academic year. If parents are considering discontinuing their child’s enrolment with us in the new year we would like you to make contact with the school to discuss your intentions. Likewise, if there are additional enrolments for any class across the school we would love to talk to those interested.
Remember: Do things for others not because of who they are or what they will do in return but because of who you are. It’s good to be kind!
God Bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
