From the Principal
Welcome to an early winter as we brace ourselves for very cold mornings and nights. Hopefully we will still get to see the sun during the days. This means that we enter Week 3 in full school WINTER uniform with all of the necessary accessories, including the tie. Please ensure that students are warm enough when they are on the playground and able to remove layers when they are the heated classrooms. We still have a range of winter items in the clothing pool and there will be other opportunities to purchase from the clothing pool – stay tuned.
Once again we have lots of activities and sport happening this term. We love to provide these opportunities for students to try new things, excel and develop new community and cooperative skills. This is naturally dependent on the behaviour and work ethic obvious at school. We have high expectations around the way students speak to each other and staff. We also have high expectations that students will engage with all work that is covered in class or actively seek support for content where they are unsure. Similarly, we also have high expectations that students will make an effort to catch up and complete work when they are away from school.
Today an expression of interest in the possible Sacred Heart Snow trip will be sent home. We are tying to ascertain whether we have enough people who will commit to the trip to make it viable. Please check the COMPASS events for information about the event.
Congratulations to our wonderful First Eucharist and Reconciliation candidates who were very respectful in their receiving of these special sacraments. It was a lovely celebration for the candidates and their families. It was so nice to have so many families in the church together. We would love to see families join us on a Saturday evening at 5pm to help us build community.
In coming weeks we will be conducting practice evacuation and lockdown drills. We will be informing our students of the processes and procedures so that when we practice students feel confident and safe in how we manage the situation. We will let parents know when we have our first drill but the second follow-up will be a surprise. These are regulatory requirements that must be fulfilled annually.
This Tuesday 9th May we will be hosting the first information session for Kindergarten (Early Stage 1) for 2024. This is the perfect opportunity for prospective parents to meet with our amazing Infants staff to learn what we have to offer, how we do things and answer any questions they may have. It will be in the Infants Break Out space at 6pm.
Please make sure that you return all Project Compassion boxes to the Front Office by next Tuesday 9th May so that we can finalise funds to be sent to Caritas for the support of charity projects.
Please ensure that you have made payments on Term One fees as the second term fees will be issued shortly. If this is a challenge then please make an appointment to meet with me at your earliest convenience to discuss options and plans.
Please remember that there is always a reason to be kind and that we may never realise or understand the benefit that it may have to someone’s day if we are kind.
God Bless
