From the Principal
Welcome back to another wonderful term. The possibilities and opportunities this term seem endless and we look forward to all our staff and students will achieve.
Thank you to our students and staff who generously devoted time on the ANZAC Day holiday to commemorate the proud history and future of our Defence Forces by marching in the parade down Parker St. It was so pleasing to see so many students turn out to join with our local community to march and participate in the commemorative service in Albert Park. It was a gloriously sunny day and our students marched proudly and enthusiastically in their school uniforms. Thank you to the families who came along to support the parade. Today our Year 9 students presented a respectful and reverent ANZAC service for the school community. Thank you to Mr Gooduchkin for his leadership and preparation of our students.
The first week was quite warm and many students have not made the transition to the winter uniform. Next week however offers a very different forecast. If students transition to the winter uniform there is an expectation that they will wear the full uniform correctly including the tie. If you require any items from the uniform pool please contact the school or send an email to the office requesting the specific item, size and number and we will endeavour to find the items and leave them for you to collect from the Front Office.
Over the coming weeks many staff will be on leave for a variety of reasons. We will strive to make sure that there is no disruption to student learning and that we continue to provide quality instruction and care.
Next week our Year 7 students will travel to Goobarragandra for the annual Year 7 Camp. This is a really exciting opportunity for our Year 7s to appreciate First Nations culture, learn about our local Wiradjuri area and to spend quality time together as a cohort. They will also participate in their Retreat on the evening of the first day and celebrate their faith in a relaxed and inspiring setting. Thank you to Ms Buchanan, Mrs Maher, Mrs Roxburgh, Mrs Black, Mrs Maxwell and Mr Forsyth for their support and organisation of our annual camp. A packing list was sent home today so that students can prepare their supplies ready for Wednesday’s departure. They will need lots of warm clothes according to the weather report.
Welcome back to Mr Ian Bell, who has taken over the privileged responsibility of Stage 1B. Mrs Bear is happily ‘nesting’ in preparation for the birth of her baby and Mr Bell has already been glowing about the calibre of his new class. We are very glad to have him back with us.
Have a great weekend and remember if you have to choose between being extraordinary and kind, be extraordinarily kind!
Ms Nicky Trinder
