From the Principal
The final week of Term 1 is significant in so many ways. We enter Holy Week the most important week of our liturgical year. This is a special time in our faith journey as we recognize the very basis of our beliefs – the life and death of Jesus Christ. Our Year 9 students have been busy preparing, an alternate, presentation of the passion of Christ for the Good Friday prayer service at 11am. The students will present the Passion to the school community in the final week and the parish presentation will continue a long tradition of our school community (regardless of the past impact of COVID restrictions)> Please give some thought to joining the students as they fulfil this important prayer.
Don’t forget the P & F Colour Run is being held TONIGHT at 5.30pm. Mrs Winsor and her P & F helpers have volunteered to coordinate a wonderful community event for all the family. Registrations begin from 5.30pm under the COLA in Sutton st and there will be a BBQ meal and drinks available. Check out details in the flyer and on our COMPASS news feed. We hope that lots of families will gather to enjoy the evening and have lots of fun at the same time.
Thank you to the parents who came to meet with the teachers over the two nights of the Parent/Teacher interviews. It was an invaluable way to get feedback on all things school related – academic progress and behaviour/efforts. Teachers are keen to keep parents informed of successes that are happening but also ways to aid further development.
Term One will be officially over on Thursday 6 April for the two-week holiday period. Students will return on Wednesday 26 April (after the ANZAC Day holiday). We hope everyone has a restful and relaxing break and that we all travel safely.
Today we were finally able to host the Annual Cross Country. Due to the inclement weather and the sodden nature of the Golf Course we held a K-10 event at Nicholson Oval. It was fabulous to see all our students participate and have so many families/parents in attendance. Thank you to Ms Withers and Ms Van Kerk Oerle for all their preparation and flexibility when things were invariably changed. Results will be announced on Monday.
Congratulations to our representative swimmers on their efforts in Sydney over the past few days. They conducted themselves with distinction and we will publish results in the final newsletter for the term. See below a lovely picture of our senior team.
It is wonderful to have Father Lolesio back at the helm of our Parish after an extended holiday back home in Samoa. He spent some quality time with his family and we hope he is refreshed and ready to be our spiritual guide for the remainder of the year. Mass will remain in the school classrooms this weekend and we hope to be back in the church for Easter. Our sympathy is extended to the family of Mr Neil Murray who passed away last week. Neil was a staunch supporter of our school and parish for a very long time. Our condolences go to Mr John Murray who is an invaluable member of our staff.
Remember there are always opportunities to be kind. Strive to have the courage to be kind whenever possible.
God bless
Ms Nicky Trinder
