From the Principal
Photo Day 2022 has been and gone and it was a great success. Thank you to all the families who made the effort to have the children resplendent in their uniform for the photos. The students were very well behaved and the photographers made lots of positive and affirming comments about our children, their manners and behaviour.
Next week is the annual Book Week Parade and celebration of all things to do with books and reading. Reading is the essential building block for further success at school and in life. The ability to engage with books is fundamental to accessing all other subjects and content regardless of the year level. Our Infants and Primary students will be attending the parade but we are required to limit contact with other adults and other schools as a COVID safe measure. All details have already been sent home about the day.
A reminder that raffle tickets were sent home this week for the Ten Grand in the Hand P & F fundraising. Please do not lose the tickets as it is a legal requirement that they are returned sold or unsold. We would love people to sell them to their neighbours, family and friends so that we can continue to supply all the “extras” for our students, namely additional iPads for the infants classes and representative sport uniforms for the primary and secondary. There are also tickets in the father’s day raffle available. The P & F have sourced a BBQ, car seat covers and a fuel voucher for the raffle and tickets are available through the front office.
We have been touched this week by a few COVID cases but we seem to be managing to prevent the spread as well as we are able. Please speak to your students about personal hygiene in terms of covering their mouth when they cough or sneeze. It is an expectation that you do not send children with COVID like symptoms to school. We ask that testing continues if the students display any COVID-like symptoms. We are continuing to monitor the numbers of COVID cases within the school and amongst the staff. Please contact the front office if your child tests positive to COVID. Also all secondary students who are close contacts must continue to wear masks and test negative for the next 5 days.
Our school is so blessed and lucky to have such wonderful ladies managing our Canteen. They do an amazing job and provide an invaluable service to our school community. We have a number of different ways to access the canteen; online, through lunch order bags or walk up sales. However, it is important that orders are placed before 9.30am each morning. If you inadvertently forget to place the order please note that it will be difficult to fill until the lunch time rush is over at 11.40. Most times, there is only a single lady in the canteen to prep and prepare the lunches, especially on Thursday and Friday. So if you do forget and the student present at the front office it may be necessary for them to eat their recess first and get their lunch at the recess break. This is not ideal, but it is also unavoidable when there are in excess of 100 lunch orders to get out and sales at lunch time complete. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
Planning is in place for classes for next year. Please contact me at the school if you have plans for 2023 that impact on our enrolments. Also please encourage anyone you know who is considering Sacred Heart to make an appointment to meet with me at their earliest convenience.
