Small Schools Rugby League

On Thursday 23rd June, teams travelled to Wagga to compete in the Small Schools Rugby League competition.

The 13/14s team played 2 round games and a final. The first game was against St Anne’s Temora and we won 16-0. The second game was against Murrumburrah/Boorowa Combined High Schools  and we won 18-0. The wins put us through to the final against Tumbarumba High. This was a close battle going try for try the entire game. The score was 14-14 at the buzzer but because we scored first we were declared the winners. Try scorers throughout the day included Josh Harris, Ben Piffero, Declan Kerrison, Zane Lange and Jasper Howarth. Kicking duties performed by Josh Harris.

The 15/16s player 2 round games and a final also. The first game was against Murrumburrah/Boorowa Combined High Schools and we won 16-0. The second game was against Hay High School  and we won 30-0. The wins put us through to the final against Gundagai High School. This was another convincing win 20-4. Try scorers throughout the day included Joei Neaves, Oscar Roberts, Sam Grewal, Corey Gale, Deiter Dickinson, Jai Willoughby, Oliver Hall, Archi Piffero, and Sam Nasser. Kicking duties were shared by lots of player with conversions to Oliver Hall, Joei Neaves, Jai Willoughby and Sam Grewal. It was a very well-rounded team effort with great support for all players.

Both teams displayed exceptional sportsmanship and teamwork throughout their matches. Big thanks to Ned Murray and Koby Godbier for performing the League Safe duties running water and coaching messages out to the players during the games.

Thank you to John Murray for coaching the teams and to all the parents who stepped in to help out with warm-ups, scoring, strapping, assistant coaching, driving and support for the teams. It was a Sacred Heart community effort. Thank you.

Both teams now progress through to the State Small Schools Grand Final to be held in Bathurst on the 10th August. Congratulations and best of luck!
