Archdiocese Basketball Gala Day - Tuggeranong

Congratulations to our teams who competed at the Basketball Gala day in Canberra last Friday.

The Yr 7/8 teams learnt a lot by playing some very experienced sides. They did not win any games but managed a few goals.

The 9/10 Boys won 2 out of 4 games, with some excellent lay-ups and rebounding. The last game was very close and we managed to win by one point in a nail biting finish.

The 9/10 Girls won 2 out of 3 pool games to progress to a Semi-Final. We lost the Semi-final by only 6 points. This was a great effort considering 2 of our team were playing up from the 7/8 girls team.

Thank you Mr Mahon for driving and helping with the teams, and to all the parents for helping to complete our scoring duties.

The Working Horse Challenge consists of completing patterns of movement to replicate some of the control and actions required of working horses. It is designed to demonstrate the horse’s skill in changing direction, changing speed, jumping, opening gates, propping and back tracking. It demonstrates the rider's ability to control and manoeuvre the horse through the obstacles.

Pentathlon Events include:

  • Cross Country run around the EvA80 course including obstacles (approx 2.4km) on horseback
  • 80cm Top Score showjump on Sunday
  • Javelin throwing
  • Rams run - on horseback bending around barrels, collecting a rams skull from one barrel and placing on the last barrell
  • Mountain Bike Ride - individually timed on the back half of the cross country course

Team Barrells - combines the teams’ times for the barrel runs.

Team Penning - riders have to work together to separate a few head of cattle from a herd of 20-30. This is a timed event.

Sporting - There are five sporting events

  • Flag Race
